PaTan’s medium was not always crayons, but a painter using acrylic and oil. She has done a few commercial and residential murals as well.
In volunteering at Seattle Children’s for 10 years, PaTan discovered that the Crayola crayons couldn’t be sanitized due to the paper wrapper. Instead of letting these materials go to waste, she decided to do what she does best: make art.
As a Pacific Northwest native, she loves the outdoors and wildlife. Both of which influences her work immensely. The crayon pieces made showcase animals, particularly ones fighting for survival.
